Background
My interest in art started early in life and accelerated over time until I had no other option than to take it up professionally. I received an MFA in drawing and painting from the University of Georgia and a BFA in drawing and painting from the University of Memphis. After graduation and with a family on the way, my first job was painting large murals and paintings for restaurant and hotel chains. The artwork was based on themes such as World War I Aces (pilots), baseball heroes, western themes and movie star montages. During this time I also entered many competitions and showed my work in one-man and group exhibits.

With the family growing and more potential monetarily, I pursued a career in illustration where the artwork was used to illustrate articles and stories as well as being used in corporate brochures, direct mail and poster campaigns. Clients included Memphis Magazine, Seabrook, Plough, International Paper, Ezon, FedEx, Holiday Inn and many other companies in the Memphis community. In the mid to late 80s the Apple Macintosh was introduced as a potential tool for the graphic artist. As the capabilities of the computer and software improved the work transitioned to the digital world. In this environment, the demand for illustration diminished and my focus became graphic design and web development.

In 2003 I purchased a digital camera and began using it as a means to explore an interest in movement and the abstract. The photos led to creating the digital paintings. At first, I worked into the photos using Photoshop and Illustrator. Soon I was creating the digital paintings without a photo reference. The digital paintings led me back full circle to painting on canvas where I now have a new and refreshed interest.
